March 21, 2014 Comments Off on Rise of the Forgeborn Preview Card: Ebonskull Knight
(Editor’s Note: This article was actually written by Raidrinn, but we didn’t quite have the time to make sure that he was the one who’s name ended up on the article, nor did we give this a thorough editing pass. Such is life when the patch hits much sooner than you expect!)
Hello everyone! Spoiler season is back and I have been given a royal gift. The purple faction has served me well in the past for awesome abilities, powerful creatures, and devastating spells. Nekrium as a faction has a tendency to have very powerful cards with interesting drawbacks that keep its effects from being overpowering. This card is no different, meet the Heroic Ebonskull Knight. Unfortunately, being at Legendary, these cards won’t have much impact on the upcoming Rise of the Forgeborn draft environment. Therefore, Kit, Noetherian, and Foxhull are excited to bring you today, a trio of upcoming Rare and Heroic cards that we believe will change the way you think about drafting Uterra. What new strategies might be available when drafting Uterra in Set 2? Find out in today’s exclusive video preview.
With draft and Uterra on our minds, Kit, Noetherian and Fox collaborate on a Set 1 draft where we assemble a very interesting mostly-Uterra deck. At the end end of the draft video, and at the end of each of the three gameplay videos, we provide exclusive previews of upcoming Rise of the Forgeborn content.
Obviously, Forge Watch isn’t the only site bringing you exclusive previews this week. Follow @Forgewatch on Twitter for tweets and re-tweets of SolForge spoilers that we find elsewhere on the Internet. Also, if you happen to miss a preview, check out Stoneblade’s spoiler gallery on the official SolForge Facebook page.
March 19, 2014 Comments Off on Rise of the Forgeborn Preview Card: Delpha, Chronosculpter
From the very earliest spoilers, one of the defining Alloyin abilities has been the power to level up additional cards. Technosmith and Synapsis Oracle were the paradigmatic examples in Set 1, with Metasight adding a spell version in the small expansion. It should come as no surprise that Rise of the Forgeborn brings us an exciting new card with a similar ability. Read More »
March 18, 2014 Comments Off on Rise of the Forgeborn Preview Card: Steelscale Dragon
I am sure the Dragons of the Nekrium, Tempys, and Uterra used to strike fear into the Alloyin Faction. Those Dragons’ natural strength would have been hard for their machines and creations to kill. Even the great Scrapforge Titan could not match their power and speed.
But Alloyin, known for their ability to adapt and evolve, decided enough was enough. They would fight Dragons with Dragons. I expect that they pooled together their resources and knowledge for the ultimate creation. I present to you the Steelscale Dragon. Read More »
Since the newest 24-card update hit our SolForge clients, I’ve been having flashbacks to the first big update. Back in the beginning, when all we had were 6 starter decks worth of cards, all of the creatures and spells were very different. Everything had a sort of flat power level, meaning most cards could be played interchangeably with only moderate impact to the outcome of the game. While fun for starter decks, in the forum games that we played before there was deck construction, it made for very predictable games. Read More »
We have eight players remaining. Bludex and Darksoul are both playing variants of Grimgaunt Removal decks, although they are splashing different factions so their decks play very differently. Holyllama, Table1, and TinyGrimes are all playing similar A/U Robots/Thundersaur/Patriarch decks, although again with important variations, while PEsh021 has seemingly adapted a similar list for usage without the Robot synergies. Xtof is playing a variant of a U/N Patriarch/Deathweaver/Swarm deck that has become very popular lately. And Whytefyre? Just keep reading.
December 27, 2013 Comments Off on Raidrinn Reviews: 24 Additional Cards
StoneBlade has given us a most excellent gift of 24 new cards to shake up a very stale constructed metagame. This timely update has come at a momentous time as well. It’s just three weeks till the Forge Watch Invitational and I (along with everyone else who qualified) are busy scrambling to find the most broken pile of cards possible. What better way to start the testing process than to mercilessly judge these new cards and attach an arbitrary rating on to them.
0 Unplayable: These are hilariously bad cards that you would never want to include in a constructed deck. Example: Nexus Core (Hunting Pack)
1 Niche: These aren’t necessarily bad cards, but you won’t see them used that often. Usually have an ability that few decks would want or need. Example: Oxidon Spitter
2 Playable: The bread and butter of most decks. Example: Magma Hound
3 Staple: These are the powerful build around cards of the format. Most often, you’ll see full playsets in decks whenever they can be fit. Example: Epidemic
4 All-Star: The best cards of the set, these are cards that will be played for a long time to come. Example: Zimus, The Undying Read More »

Here is what StoneBlade has said they are working on for the next update:
Crafting – Kibler stated on the stream that there has already been a bunch of work done on this and we should be hearing more details relatively soon.
Chatting/Interacting with your Opponent – They added a Chat button on the PC client version to help people communicate more but they do want ways of interacting with your opponent. There are currently no details on this yet.
Single Card Purchases/Website Update – These are tied together and they are currently working on this. Kibler said they think this will be done before the next major update.
Leaderboard/Competitive Play – This is something that Kibler said we should be hearing about in the near future.
Silver Cost for Drafting
Originally, there was never an indication that you would be allowed to purchase Tournament Tickets for Constructed or Tournament Play. As a surprise, StoneBlade added the ability to purchase tickets for the cost of 40K Silver. Many people thought this was very steep and Kibler responded to such a thread on the official forums. Here is what he had to say:
Silver ticket prices are tricky, because they are a balancing act with a lot of other factors. Right now all you’re seeing is the cost of buying in to a draft from ground zero with silver only. There are quite a few other ways to get tickets within the system, including your daily rewards and tournament prizes.
Our tournament payouts are very generous. You are guaranteed to receive more than enough tickets to enter another tournament if you go undefeated, in addition to other prizes, and you have a good chance of receiving enough tickets to play again for free with a 2-1 result. You also get some number of tickets back, along with other prizes, for one or zero wins. You also keep all of the cards that you draft, in addition to your prizes.
We recognize that silver prices for tickets appear high, but when you look at the fact that you will never have to purchase the full seven tickets after your first event (since you even get a ticket back for zero wins), the total cost of the draft experience is much lower than it looks.
Many people are trying to gather data about the averages for the different rewards. I would head to the official forums and Reddit to report your findings and help us make better informed feedback.
The Tempys Legendary was shrouded in mystery leading up to the patch. Tempys needed another aggressive creature and it looks like this is it. And, before you ask, he can attack more than twice if you cast multiple spells in one turn. This makes him good in combo decks involving the recently changed Lightning Brand. This is a card I am hoping to get soon and I hope you are as excited as I am about it!
Want to see a full card spoiler? We recently posted a complete card list with pictures here.
There will be some sort of Holiday Promotion for SolForge but currently there are no details. Stayed tuned to all the SolForge news channels of communication so you don’t miss it!
The official SolForge FAQ was updated with the patch and now contains information about Tournaments as well. If you have questions about SolForge I would suggest reading it first.
December 11, 2013 Comments Off on SolForge Report 12-11-2013
Hello everyone! SeomanReborn here with a preview extravaganza version of the SolForge Report. This week, we got a Chrogias-load of preview cards and an update about the upcoming Patch. Kibler talked about Daily Reward changes and reminded users about StoneBlade’s policy on third party programs. Let’s get on with the Report
The Patch is ready to submit to Apple. They plan on submitting it in the next few days then it is all in Apple’s court. The expectation is to have it in our hands before Holiday break.
You won’t always get a Tournament Ticket as one of your daily rewards, but Kibler was unclear about how many you should average in a week.
You will be able to purchase Draft Tickets with a “quite high” amount of Silver.
Drafts will cost 7 tickets and Constructed Tournaments will cost 3 tickets.
Constructed Tournaments will have tickets as rewards for winning.
There will be no distinction between Gold or Silver tickets in the client. Because of this, if any part of a Draft or Constructed Tournament is paid with Gold tickets then all cards earned will be marked as Gold for purpose of trading.
Kibler announced that the “3rd win of the day” daily reward will be going away, and in its place will be a reward for a 3rd win against an Online Opponent and a 5th win against an Online Opponent. They plan on going to a “Silver per win” system but they do not have the UI system in place to implement this method.
This last week saw a huge influx of preview cards. Here are all the cards in order of release:
SeomanReborn’s Featured Streamer Preview
Note that when the card was shown on Facebook, the card name was changed, indicating a typo on the initial preview.
All of these previews, except for the latest stream preview, are reviewed by the Forge Watch crew on the latest Player Level 4 Podcast. Check it out to hear our thoughts about all of these spoilers! Also, Kibler spoiled that the SolForge SubReddit will be showing off their preview card sometime this week.
The official SolForge FAQ is up on the website. Make sure to check it out here.
There will be more information about Leaderboards and the Tournament scene coming out next year.
On Facebook, Thundersaur’s rarity was confirmed as Legendary.
